Join us at the Yale School of Art! We are currently seeking an Assistant Professor in Graphic Design.
The Yale University School of Art invites applications from throughout the world for an assistant professor faculty appointment in the area of Graphic Design to begin July 1, 2026. The school serves students from all over the country and world. Applicants must hold an MFA or equivalent degree, preferably in the field of graphic design.
The successful candidate will teach both graduate- and undergraduate-level courses, advise graduate and undergraduate students, oversee master’s theses, participate in critique sessions, mentor students, serve on School and University committees, and actively contribute to and participate in the School’s vibrant co-curricular programming.
In the short term, the faculty member will assist the Director of Graduate Studies on student facing communication and coordination. In the long term, the faculty member will be among a group of faculty members expected to rotate the department’s leadership.
We seek a designer with a practice distinguished by formal and critical inquiry, who is technologically forward-thinking, has the ability to foster exchange across disciplines, and a broad knowledge of graphic design’s multivalent histories. A robust and individuated professional practice with a record of compelling contributions to the discipline, and a minimum of 3 years of college-level teaching and service experience are necessary. A fully engaged presence on campus is required as well as a willingness to actively participate in service and collaboratively shape the future of the Graphic Design area at the School of Art.
