March 6–11, 2021
The Yale School of Art is pleased to announce the first Sculpture Graduate Thesis show: it clings like a leech.
The exhibition, open from March 6-11, features work by 2021 MFA candidates Cameron Clayborn, Kevin Hernández Rosa, Diana Sofia Lozano, Amina Ross, and Audrey Ryan.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, the physical exhibition in the Green Hall Gallery is viewable only to members of the School of Art community, who are invited to make appointments here.
The general public is invited to view the online exhibition launching March 9th at itclings.yaleschoolofart.org.
To embody the ethos of it clings like a leech, the online exhibition features an ongoing exchange that coalesces a range of texts accompanying the thesis works. These writings slip and spill into each of the sculptural installations, engendering additional avenues to observe, engage, reflect, and play. Conjured during a time cast by seclusion and separation, it clings like a leech offers an experiment in alternative worldmaking – an autonomous, cooperative, self-organized, and extra-institutional space – that invites participants to intermingle with its curious, intimate, porous, and sticky interlocutions.
This collaboration features writing by: Alex Fialho, Josie Roland Hodson, Tobi Kassim, Nora Mitchell Rosengarten, Rachel Mei Ling Tang, Alexandra M. Thomas, and Joseph Zordan.
Designers Luiza Dale (GD ‘21) and Avery Youngblood (GD ‘23) amalgamated these nodes and convergences into a cohesive web(site).
