Lisa Kereszi joined the Yale School of Art faculty in 2004 and was appointed Director of Undergraduate Studies in Art in 2013. Following a decade of dedicated work as DUS shaping the undergraduate art program, Kereszi will serve in a new role as the Assistant DGS in Photography beginning in the 2023-24 academic year.
Kereszi is a photographer whose body of work delves into the realms of escapism, fantasy, and the profound impact of family history. Through her images, she explores the complexities of daily life, shedding light on the allure of seeking refuge from reality and the lasting effects of personal and generational narratives. Kereszi received her BA from Bard College and her MFA from the Yale School of Art.
Kereszi is a 2022 Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Fellow as well as the author of three monographs: Fantasies (2005), Fun and Games (2009), and Joeʼs Junk Yard (2012); two artist books: The More I Learn About Women (2014) and MOURNING (2023, projected); and co-author of forthcoming IN (2023). Keresziʼs work has been exhibited at numerous major institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; the Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York; Museum Helmond, Holland; and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Michigan; among others. Her work can be found in many public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts Houston; Musee de la Photographie, Belgium; and Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, among others.
