Sculpture Art 663a, Sculpture Is Fiction: A Workshop and Seminar

The word fiction? comes from the Latin, facere to do, or to make. All doings and makings are fictions then — fabrications. This course will investigate the resonances of writing with sculpture and other arts. We will read stories and essays, to be discussed closely, especially for their artfulness, artifice, and how that is achieved and how it might relate to issues in art. The group will also be asked to write imaginatively about, for instance, their own work. Meets six times for 1.5 credits as follows: 9/7, 9/14, 9/28, 10/12, 10/19, 11/9. Lynne Tillman
